Hey, y'all!
So, let's talk about something that's been on my mind a lot lately: songwriting. You see, ever since I was a little girl, I've had this insatiable passion for putting my thoughts and feelings into words and melodies. It's like this magical way of expressing myself that makes everything make sense. And trust me, being a teenager? It's a rollercoaster of emotions. But you know what? That's where the best songs come from.
Picture this: Me sitting with my long naturally blonde hair around me, and a guitar in my lap. A notebook is in front of me, and Taylor Swift is playing in the background. Every song I write is like a piece of me poured out onto the page. Whether it's the butterflies of a crush, the heartache of a broken friendship, difficulties that I would rather try to block out or the thrill of small things in life, each lyric is a snapshot me.
Now, let's talk about the process. For me, it usually starts with a feeling—a rush of emotion that I just have to get out. Maybe it's something I've experienced firsthand, or perhaps it's inspired by a story I've heard or a movie I've watched. Then comes the fun part: putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and letting the words flow. I've always been a firm believer in writing what you know. That's why so many of my songs are inspired by real-life events and people. Sure, I might change a name here or there to protect the innocent (or not-so-innocent), but the heart of the story remains the same.
And let's not forget about the music itself. As much as I love writing lyrics, there's something truly magical about finding the perfect melody to accompany them. Sometimes it comes to me in a dream, and other times it's just a matter of trial and error until it feels right. But when it clicks? That's when the magic happens.
So, to all my fellow teenage songwriters out there, I have one piece of advice: keep writing. Write about love, write about heartbreak, write about everything in between. Because at the end of the day, your voice matters, and your stories deserve to be heard. And who knows? Maybe someday, you'll look back on those teenage years and realize that they were the inspiration for some of your greatest songs yet.
Until next time,
Lenna
